The Asian Pacific Student Coalition is leading efforts to promote awareness, facilitate conversations, and drive change to improve the experiences of Asian and Pacific Islander students at the University of Pennsylvania.
Our Mission
Founded in 1995, APSC represents the interests and causes of the API community to the University administration. APSC functions to promote and celebrate the richness of API culture, facilitate communication between student groups, and provide a forum for discussion on issues of student concern.
The Asian Pacific Student Coalition is directed by a 7 member Executive Board and APSC representatives from each of its 25 Asian constituent groups on Penn’s campus. General Body Meetings on every other Wednesday bring all constituent groups together to discuss matters of concern, publicize upcoming events, and gather the support of the community in their individual endeavors.
Coordination
APSC activities include coordinating the Asian Pacific American Heritage Week (APAHW), the Resource Guide for incoming freshmen, and various events such as potlucks, socials, etc. APSC also participates in the development of the Asian American (ASAM) Studies Program and efforts to increase funding and resources at the Greenfield Intercultural Center (GIC) and the Pan-Asian American Community House (PAACH).
Collaboration
The Board collaborates with other minority coalitions in the 7B - the Latinx Coalition, the Lambda Alliance, UMOJA, the United Minorities Council, PAGE (the Penn Association for Gender Equity), and Natives at Penn, on issues where our interests intersect.
